Poor Tayson :*(

So this morning Tayson started coughing. No big deal, I thought he was just choking on his spit a little. Then he did it again. I started to wonder, but not too concerned. So by about 3:30, he had about 5-10 coughing fits, and you couldn't really even call them fits, they were just about 5 coughs at a time. They were dry coughs too, not much to them. Well I called the Dr just to see what they suggested. They said to keep an eye on it, and if it got worse, if he got a fever or started acting lathargic, to bring him in.

I figured I would keep an eye on it until morning, then decide whether I wanted to take him in. Well, when I was talking to the Dr, Tayson was taking a nap. When he woke up from his nap I heard this noise. I wasn't sure it was him. Then I went in, and I heard it again. It sounded like a seal. My poor little boy sounded like he had croupe. All in about an hours time.

So I called the Dr and they scheduled an appt for today at 5:30 (luckily my dr is open that late). I had a Girls' Night planned with some friends and decided to let Shane take him in while I went out and enjoyed myself. The entire time I was hoping he was ok and wishing I had stayed home. Turns out, Dr says he has an ear infection in his left ear, and the cough was from the drainage. So he has a sore throat and an ear infection, but my poor little boy can hardly breath now without wheezing.

Dr gave us antibiotics, said to prop up the mattress, keep an eye on him throughout the night & use a cold air humidifier. Well, we propped up the mattress, gave him a dose of antibiotics & infant's tylenol for the 100.6 fever he had developed and put him to bed. Now Shane & I get to take turns staying up with him throughout the night.

My poor little boy can hardly sleep because he can hardly breathe.

Poor Tayson.

But, I am the luckiest person in the world to have a baby, that through all of this, kept smiling the entire time. Which makes it even harder to deal with him being sick. He's such a happy kid.

=( That is so sad. I hate sick babies because there is so little you can do to help them feel better. That is good that Shane is such a sweetheart and willing to take care of him even though he has to get up early to work the next day. Brian would if I woke him up, but usually when Ryah wakes up in the night (and she only does when she is sick or teething) I get up because she wakes me up. Brian can sleep through anything. I hope he starts feeling better.

Oh too bad! I sure hope he feels better. When kids are sick it's the worst! They're just too cute to get sick.

Eeew... ear infections are the worst. I had one last year, and I gotta tell you: I'll never look at a baby with an ear infection the same way again! They are so painful and annoying! Good call getting him on antibiotics. Hope he feels better soon.
